Bio
Durel is the STEM Program Manager at Yale Young Global Scholars. He has a B.A. in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University, and was also a Yale Education Studies Scholar and member of the Brady-Johnson Program in Grand Strategy class of 2021. Previously, he taught as a YYGS instructor for two summers.
Upon conferral of his Associates in Science by Harold Washington College he transferred into the Eli Whitney Students Program. Since 2019, he has been a recurring presenter, for Detroit and Chicago-based faculty and student audiences, on his advice for successful transition into college level courses and strategies for students to use to excel in math and medical science-relevant studies.
When he is not busy reading emerging scientific research, Durel can be seen around campus feeding himself a healthy diet of poetry, yoga, and calisthenics. A life-long athlete, he is in hot pursuit of the elusive sub 5-minute mile, after a 10+ year history of long distance running
