My time at YYGS was incredibly enjoyable, filled with memorable experiences that I cherish deeply. Here are the five highlights that remain my favorite memories:
5. Lectures
The PLE lectures were particularly inspiring, thanks to the professors who genuinely motivated us. I was especially drawn to discussions on the significance of youth representation in politics. The large audience in each lecture contributed to rich and diverse debates, making the sessions even more engaging.
4. Living on Campus
Waking up each morning to the view of the beautiful courtyard and staying in the dorms was an incredible experience. It added a unique charm to our stay in New Haven. The university’s facilities, such as the Sterling Memorial Library and the Yale University Art Gallery, were also breathtaking. Additionally, a big shout out to the Yale Hospitality and dining team for such delicious meals!
3. Seminars
Compared to the lectures, the seminars felt more intimate, with only around 20 participants in each session. This setting allowed everyone to contribute meaningfully and engage more in-depth. I particularly enjoyed discussing the ongoing relevance of human rights in global affairs.
2. Family Time
Family time was a fun and insightful part of my YYGS experience. It provided an opportunity to share and reflect on what we learned from the seminars and lectures, fostering a sense of community and deeper understanding. I loved sharing a bit about the history and perspective of my country, Argentina.
1. Living in Difference
The most unforgettable aspect of YYGS was the people I met, especially those from my Latin American community. Connecting with them helped alleviate homesickness, making me feel less distant from home. Sharing cultural traditions like “mate” and singing karaoke with peers from over 150 countries was incredibly enriching. These exchanges of life and traditions were among the most fulfilling experiences of my life, and I will treasure them forever.
